School of Information Science & Technology
The School of Information Science and Technology at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University has been an integral part of the University since its inception and functions as a key interdisciplinary faculty in the evolving information age. The School aims to develop as a centre of excellence in teaching and research in the areas of Library and Information Science, Computer Science, and Information Technology, recognizing the growing importance of information as a vital resource for socio-economic and technological development. It comprises three departments – Department of Library and Information Science, Department of Computer Science, and Department of Information Technology – offering postgraduate and Ph.D. programmes. The School emphasizes both theoretical and practical learning through field visits, educational tours, seminars, and participation in national and international conferences. Gautam Buddha Central Library
The Gautam Buddha Central Library of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, established in 1998, serves as the primary knowledge resource centre of the University, supporting teaching, learning, and research activities. Named after Lord Gautam Buddha, the Library plays a vital role in the generation, preservation, and dissemination of knowledge. It is housed in a modern, fully air-conditioned multi-storey building with a seating capacity of over 400 users. The Library has adopted advanced Information and Communication Technologies, including RFID-based services, Koha-based automation, institutional repository, remote access, and access to e-resources through ONOS. It provides a wide range of services such as digital library facilities, research support, plagiarism detection, OPAC access, and specialized services for Divyangjan users. With its rich collection of print and electronic resources and user-centric services, the Library continues to function as a dynamic hub for academic excellence and research.
IFLA - Government Libraries Section (GOVLIB)
The Government Libraries Section (GOVLIB) of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) represents librarians and information professionals working across government sectors at local, national, and international levels. It also welcomes professionals from related domains who share a commitment to strengthening government information services. The Section aims to promote the value and impact of government libraries by engaging with stakeholders and decision-makers, advocating for the role of librarians in governance and policy-making, and enhancing the visibility of their contributions.
